The short answer

The best AI design agency for a B2B startup is one that has already made a hard-to-see AI product easy to understand, for buyers and investors alike. Our shortlist: Studio Huncho, basement.studio, Metalab, Ragged Edge, Koto and Focus Lab. Pick by your main need: brand, website and launch film timed to a raise (Studio Huncho), a high-craft website for a fast-growing AI company (basement.studio), product interfaces (Metalab), a distinctive brand for a crowded category (Ragged Edge), identity and content at big-tech scale (Koto), or B2B positioning and messaging (Focus Lab).

What an AI design agency actually does

"AI design agency" can mean two things: an agency that uses AI tools in its own process, or an agency that designs for AI companies. This list is about the second. Designing for an AI company comes with its own problems:

  • The product is invisible. Agents and models work in the background, so the brand and site have to show what they do.
  • Every category looks the same. Purple gradients, glowing orbs and sparkle icons make most AI startups interchangeable.
  • Buyers are sceptical. Enterprise buyers want proof, security and clear answers, not hype.
  • Timelines follow funding. A brand or site often has to ship before an announcement, not after.

How we picked

We've included ourselves, and every other agency was checked on its own website. Each had to pass three tests:

  • Named AI-company work. Public case studies for AI companies, not only a claim of AI expertise.
  • B2B and startup relevance. Work that a founder selling to businesses can learn from.
  • A clear strength. A reason to choose them over the others, whether brand, website, product or scale.

The list isn't ranked after the first entry. Each one says who the agency suits best.

The best AI design agencies

1. Studio Huncho (Bangalore, India)

Best for: AI and B2B startups that want brand, website, Webflow or Framer build and launch film from one creative studio, timed to a raise or launch.

That's us. We work mostly with funded AI startups and founders in the US, UK, India and the Middle East. For Further AI, a YC-backed company, we shipped the brand, website, motion and Webflow build in the pre-raise window, before its $25M Series A from a16z. For Coris, a YC- and Lux-backed AI merchant risk platform, we designed and built the website and its motion. We also designed and built the website for Nanonets, backed by YC and Accel, and took Refold AI from Cobalt to Refold, brand and site, in 45 days. Dodge AI came to us for its brand identity and website around a $2.65M round led by Accel and Google.

Worth knowing: 250+ projects across 16 countries and 5.0 on Clutch. Brand projects usually take 4 to 6 weeks and most websites 2 to 6. If your main need is deep UX research across a large, mature product, a product-first agency may suit you better.

2. basement.studio (Mar del Plata, Argentina)

Best for: fast-growing AI companies that want a high-craft, engineering-heavy website or visual brand.

basement.studio is a digital studio for websites, visual branding, 3D, events and marketing work, and says it works mainly with technology companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its AI work is hard to beat: a visual rebrand for ElevenLabs that kept the logotype and rebuilt colour, motion and composition around sound-wave patterns, a website for Cursor, an initial brand and website for Harvey that it has supported from seed to Series D, a rebrand for Baseten and website work for Black Forest Labs. It is also a long-running partner of Vercel.

Worth knowing: most of the AI names in its showcase were already well funded and growing fast, so ask how a smaller, earlier scope would be staffed.

3. Metalab (Victoria, Canada)

Best for: AI startups where the product interface is the main job, not the marketing site.

Metalab sums itself up as "We make interfaces" and works with a team spread across many cities. Its AI projects include the original interface for Midjourney, a rebrand and website for Windsurf, the AI coding assistant, and brand and product design for Modular, the AI developer platform. It also designed Slack's original product and brand.

Worth knowing: it is product-first. If you mostly need a launch film or a marketing site in a few weeks, check how that fits.

4. Ragged Edge (London, UK)

Best for: AI products moving from early adopters to a wide audience that need a brand people remember.

Ragged Edge has been a brand agency since 2007. Its best-known AI project is Granola, the AI notepad: a full rebrand and relaunch with campaigns in San Francisco, New York and London. The agency describes rejecting "the overly sanitised AI aesthetic" in favour of something warmer, with a hand-drawn logo and a slab serif in the type system. Other clients include Wise and Marshmallow.

Worth knowing: it is brand-led, so confirm whether website build and product design are in scope.

5. Koto (London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Sydney)

Best for: later-stage AI companies that need identity and content to work at very large scale.

Koto is a creative company with five offices. For Microsoft it created the brand identity for Copilot+PC, and a content approach for Copilot built on Microsoft AI's "Humanist AI" positioning, with a lead film shot on 16mm in London that puts people, not the product, at the centre. It also repositioned Coda, the payments company, and has worked with Instagram, Amazon and Stack Overflow.

Worth knowing: its client list is mostly large companies. For a seed-stage scope, ask who would lead the work.

6. Focus Lab (USA, fully remote)

Best for: B2B AI companies where positioning and messaging matter as much as the visuals.

Focus Lab is a B2B brand agency founded in 2010, covering brand strategy, verbal and visual identity and web design. Its AI clients include PolyAI (strategy, identity and website), Spellbook, Voiceflow and Doppel, alongside software companies such as LaunchDarkly and Salesloft.

Worth knowing: it publishes pricing on its site, including engagements for startups and growth-stage companies. Product UI design isn't among its listed services.

How to choose an AI design agency

  • Ask for one AI project like yours. Look for a case where they made an agent, model or workflow visible, not only a nice logo.
  • Start from your date. Ask what they can ship by your raise or launch. A strong partner will cut scope to hit it.
  • Check the buyer, not just the style. Enterprise risk, legal and insurance buyers need calm, exact sites. Consumer AI can be louder.
  • Decide what has to come together. Brand, website, build and launch film are easier from one team when they all ship on the same day.
  • Meet the people doing the work. Especially at larger agencies, the pitch team and the delivery team can differ.
  • Look at what happens after launch. Can your team edit the site? Is there ongoing support?
