Best Product Design Agencies for Startups (2026)
The short answer
The best product design agencies for startups in 2026 are Studio Huncho, Metalab, Clay, Lazarev, Halo Lab and Ramotion. Pick by what you need most: product, brand and website designed as one (Studio Huncho), top-tier interface design for an ambitious product (Metalab), senior-led UX for consumer or enterprise software (Clay), AI product design (Lazarev), design and development from one team (Halo Lab), or product UX alongside an established brand practice (Ramotion).
What a startup needs from a product design agency
Early-stage product design is different from redesigning a mature platform. You're making decisions before you have much data, the team is small, and the product has to look credible to users and investors at the same time. A good agency helps you decide what to build first, designs it so engineers can ship it, and leaves you with a system your own team can extend.
How we picked
We've included ourselves, and every other agency here was checked on their own websites. Each one had to meet three tests:
- Startup product work on show. Named app or software products for startups, not only marketing websites.
- Interface and UX depth. Product UI, flows and design systems, not just visual polish.
- A clear specialism. You can tell from their site what kind of product and stage they suit.
The list isn't ranked. Each entry says who the agency is best for.
The agencies
1. Studio Huncho (Bengaluru, India)
Best for: startups that want the app or product, the brand and the website to look and feel like one company.
That's us. We're a creative studio covering Website, Product & App Design, branding and motion. For Rippl, a creator commerce app, we designed the brand, the iOS app, the website and the motion. For Arva Health, an at-home fertility platform, we designed the app and the dashboard as well as its Framer website. We did product design for Breakout, an inbound AI SDR, alongside its website and launch film. For Dcluttr we did the brand, Framer site and product design, and its founder has said publicly that daily active users grew 35 to 40%.
Worth knowing: 250+ projects across 16 countries and 5.0 on Clutch. If you need a long research programme embedded in a large, mature platform, a product-only firm may suit you better.
2. Metalab (Victoria, Canada)
Best for: well-funded startups where the product interface is the whole game.
Metalab sums itself up as "We make interfaces" and says it has helped startups and established brands design, build and ship products since 2006. Its startup product work includes Rooms for Midjourney, a multiplayer creative space now part of Chat, and an AI-powered music creation platform for Suno. It has also designed products for Robinhood and Uber, and the brand and website for Windsurf.
Worth knowing: it works with a global team across many cities, so ask where your core team will sit and how their hours overlap with yours.
3. Clay (San Francisco, USA)
Best for: startups that want senior-led UX and UI for a consumer app or enterprise tool, with research built in.
Clay is a branding and UX design agency with 16 years in business and its headquarters in San Francisco. Its digital product capabilities include consumer and enterprise software, user research and testing, UX and interaction design, UI, motion, design systems and mobile app development. It says its teams are led by its co-founders. Its product clients include Snapchat, JOKR and Quartzy.
Worth knowing: it also works with large companies such as Slack and Discover, so it is worth asking how it staffs a startup project.
4. Lazarev (San Francisco, USA)
Best for: AI startups that need the product experience designed around how people actually use AI.
Founded in 2015, Lazarev is a digital product design agency for AI and B2B products, with packaged offers for AI product launches and adding AI patterns to an existing product. Its startup work includes Accern, an AI research product for analysts, and Elva, a voice-first AI video editor where it designed the brand, UX, UI, onboarding and monetisation as one launch.
Worth knowing: it also designs and builds websites, so it can cover the marketing site if you want one team.
5. Halo Lab (Warsaw, Poland)
Best for: startups that want product design and development from the same team, from discovery to MVP.
Halo Lab is a design and tech agency with 13 years of work and 500+ completed projects. It offers a 1 to 2 week product discovery, product and mobile app design, MVP development and software development, and says its typical time from kickoff to product launch is 2 to 3 months. Its work includes a new brand, website and mobile app for OmniBuds, an ear-worn health platform, and a long-term product design partnership with Relocate Now.
Worth knowing: it also has an office in Boston, and a separate marketing team for SEO, content and paid search.
6. Ramotion (San Francisco, USA)
Best for: startups that need product UX now and want the option of brand and web work from the same agency later.
Ramotion is a product and brand design agency with more than 15 years in the industry. Its product work includes rapid UI prototyping for Xero, a UX redesign for HealthTap, a redesign of Rizzle's branding, website and product UI/UX, and full-cycle design and development for Upstream, a carbon platform. It also offers design systems and web app development.
Worth knowing: it works across stages, from startups to large companies such as Okta and Turo.
How to choose a product design agency
- Look for products like yours. A consumer app, a B2B dashboard and an AI tool need different instincts. Ask for one case study close to your product.
- Ask how they work with engineers. Find out what the handoff looks like: Figma files, a design system, prototypes, or code.
- Check the research plan. Even a small project should include talking to a handful of real users before the main flows are locked.
- Decide who owns the system. You should end up with components and guidelines your own designers and developers can extend.
- Agree what "done" means. A first release, a set of core flows or an ongoing partnership are very different scopes.

FAQ
When should a startup hire a product design agency?
Usually when you're building a first version or a major new product and don't yet have a senior designer in-house, or when your current product was built quickly and now confuses users.
Is product design the same as UI/UX design?
They overlap. Product design covers the whole product experience, including what to build and how it should work. UI/UX is often used for the interface and flow design inside that.
Should the same agency design the product and the brand?
It helps if both are being made at the same time. One team keeps the app, website and launch materials consistent. Studio Huncho, Ramotion and Lazarev all cover brand and product.
Do these agencies also build the product?
Some do. Halo Lab and Ramotion offer development, and Metalab says it helps clients build and ship. Others focus on design and hand off to your engineers.
